 WHO WE ARE

• Chartered in April 2011, following the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami
• A community service club based in San Jose’s Historic Japantown
• Part of Lions Clubs International, the world’s largest service club network
• Inspired by Japanese heritage, with a logo based on The Great Wave off Kanagawa
• Committed to strengthening and preserving the cultural significance of Japantown
• Dedicated to building a strong, connected local community

 WHAT WE DO

• Support local Japantown community programs and cultural initiatives
• Volunteer in projects focused on:
  – Youth development
  – Senior support
  – Veterans assistance
  – Vision and hearing care
• Partner with local organizations and community agencies
• Participate in national and international service efforts
• Organize events, fundraisers, and outreach programs
• Provide hands-on service where help is needed most
• Promote community connection, service, and leadership

•We meet in person on the 2nd Tues at the IMB

 •Zoom meeting: 4th Thursday (Jan–Oct), 6:30 PM

SJ Lions Club Island Brunch 2026

SUNDAY OCT 18th – 10AM to 1PM

Please join us for our annual Island Brunch fundraiser. You can purchase tickets via zeffy.com and pick a beneficiary local charity. Or purchase meals onsite at the event. Zeffy.com will not take a transaction fee if you select a custom Qof $0 under contribution at checkout.

$20 Lion’s Loco Moco – Hamburger steak on white rice with mushroom gravy and a fried or scrambled egg. Served with fruit , coffee , juice , and dessert.

$20 SPAM & Eggs – Slices of SPAM on white rice with a fried or scrambled egg. Served with fruit, coffee, juice and dessert.

$0 Free Kid Plate (12 and under) -SPAM, egg, and white rice. Served with fruit, juice, and milk.

$5 Fresh Coconut – Freshly cracked young coconut.

$4 SPAM Musubi – SPAM and rice wrapped in nori.

$3 Slice of SPAM – Additional slice of SPAM.

We have outdoor dinning in the Garden or Take out options.

About San Jose Japantown Lions

The San Jose Japantown Lions Club was chartered in April of 2011, just 1 month after the disastrous earthquake and tsunami in Tohoku in the Sendai province of Japan.

Our mission is to work with and for community agencies and organizations within the Historic San Jose Japantown Community to help preserve it’s cultural significance within San Jose, California, and the United States.We volunteer and support many International, National, and especially Japantown Community projects, with our main focus being on youth, seniors, veterans, and those with sight and hearing challenges. We share a core belief that a strong local community is an essential building block in a major city like San Jose. 

We meet on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month, beginning at 6:30PM at the:Issei Memorial Building 565 N. 5th StreetSan Jose, CA 95112

San Jose Japantown Lions Foundation is a 501(c)(3) Public Benefit Charity. Donations in excess of the meal value are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
